The Cook at PathForward is responsible for running a full-service kitchen, preparing meals, and ensuring quality standards, sanitation, and portion control. Responsibilities

  • Receive food and supplies for the kitchens.
  • Prepare all dinners.
  • Prepare lunches when donor provided lunches are not available.
  • Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection.
  • Responsible for maintenance and kitchen cleanliness of space and equipment in consultation with Kitchen Manager/Chef.
  • Establish recipes, menus and guidelines while meeting minimum daily requirement.
  • Taste, smell, and observe food to ensure conformance with recipes and appearance standards.
  • Ensure compliance with state, local, and regulatory agencies as it relates to Food Service.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with vendors and donors.
  • Receives and processes donations of both prepared and raw foods from community donors.
  • Supervise volunteers and kitchen interns in the absence of the Chef.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean kitchen.
  • Ensure kitchen and storage areas are kept clean and organized.
  • All other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Must hold and maintain a Serve Safe or other recognized Food Handlers License.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in varied kitchen positions including food preparation.
  • Strong understanding of proper use of major kitchen equipment, including slicers and warmers.
  • Highly motivated and demonstrates by example, always using proper food-handling techniques.
  • Ability to use basic software programs including Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Position Summary:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time as well as reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, 10 am - 8 pm or 9 am - 7 pm
