  • Plans, builds and performs laboratory tests on assigned projects.
  • Recommends and aides in the selection of equipment required for testing and data collections.
  • Builds special test equipment when necessary.
  • Selects and installs equipment required to meet lab tests.
  • Enters data and/or results into computer applications/programs.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree or 2 years of technical training.
  • Minimum four years of practical experience in automotive mechanics.
  • Understanding of basic mechanics, hydraulics, and electronics.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Considerable problem-solving skills including troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to make decisions without all information available.
  • Professional interpersonal communication skills.

  1. Position summary Tests prototypes, carries out instrumentation of test setups, calibrates and monitors operation of test runs, and records results.
  2. Installs or removes test components from automotive engines and evaluates performance.
  3. Key responsibilities Sets up engines / test stands and makes modifications as necessary, which includes the installation of various devices.
  4. Adjusts and calibrates instrumentation and maintains calibration records assuring reliable data acquisitions. Installs and / or removes test components from test stands and vehicles, test drive vehicles, and monitors the performance.
  5. Maintains accurate records and prepares test results. Performs preventative maintenance and repair on equipment, establishes preventative maintenance schedule based on requirements or a particular piece of equipment.
  6. Fabricates and welds test equipment and fixtures. Check components to ensure they meet drawing specifications, records measurements.
  7. Operates some machine shop equipment to fabricate or modify sample parts and test fixtures. Plans, builds and performs a wide variety of laboratory tests on assigned projects.
  8. Recommends and aides in the selection of equipment required for testing and data collections. Builds special test equipment when necessary. Select and installs equipment required to meet lab tests. Enters data and / or results into computer applications / programs.
  9. Education - High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree or 2 years technical training. Minimum four 4 years of practical experience in automotive mechanics.
  10. Must have an understanding of basic mechanics, hydraulics, and electronics. Should be familiar with Microsoft office suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  11. Must have considerable problem-solving skills including troubleshooting ability and to be able to make decisions without having all of the information available.
  12. Must have professional interpersonal communication skills.
