We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Specialist to join our team in Hillside, IL. This role involves creating and maintaining preventive maintenance schedules, providing work direction to maintenance technicians, and performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks on production equipment, material handling equipment, and building systems. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in CNC maintenance and possess strong technical skills, including the ability to read and interpret technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, communicate, and follow preventive maintenance schedules for equipment at assigned facilities.
  • Provide work direction to maintenance technicians.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to install, set up, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair production equipment, material handling equipment, and building systems.
  • Perform emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance of production equipment.
  • Perform repair and maintenance tasks, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repair and maintenance of production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and/or schematics for assigned equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental and safety laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Determine, specify, and communicate complete instructions for custom fabrication of tooling, as well as equipment modifications.
  • Source tooling, parts, supplies, and/or equipment from outside vendors with management approval.
  • Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs.
  • Assist in maintenance of facility systems and utilities.

Qualifications

Required

  • 7 - 15 years of experience in industrial maintenance with at least 2 years in CNC machine maintenance.
  • Ability to perform basic shop mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Capability to correctly measure and record dimensions of equipment and parts.
  • Competence in completely and correctly sketching custom parts and tools.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment malfunctions.
  • Proficiency in using powered and non-powered hand tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for memos, emails, and correspondence.
  • Capability to enter, edit, read, and interpret maintenance records and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
  • Ability to read technical documentation pertaining to assigned equipment to be maintained and/or repaired.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to work in a sitting, kneeling, or crouching position continuously for up to 2 hours.
  • Proficiency in using non-powered tools to tighten or loosen fasteners.
  • Willingness to work around cleaning chemicals as well as parts containing or covered in oil.
  • Capability to climb, descend, and stand on ladders and stairs.
