The Shop Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a variety of construction equipment, machinery, and vehicles.   • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work, including parts used, time spent, and vehicle/equipment condition.
  • Update maintenance logs and submit reports as required by the Shop Manager/Supervisor.
  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure that equipment is safe to operate.
  • Identify and report any safety hazards related to equipment or work environment.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Work closely with the operations and project teams to ensure equipment availability and readiness.
  • Provide technical support and advice to crews regarding proper operation and maintenance.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in maintenance and repair.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance and repair, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and software.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform manual labor as needed.
  • Capable of working in various weather conditions and environments.

Preferred

  • Technical/vocational training in mechanics or a related field.
  • ASE certification or equivalent.
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (preferred) with a clean driving record.
