The Facilities Maintenance Technician at Horizons at Hemlock Overlook Regional Park, a partnership between NOVA Parks and Endless Horizons, will perform a wide range of facility maintenance, repair, landscaping, and construction projects. Responsibilities
- Perform general landscaping duties such as mowing, weed eating, leaf removal, tree removal, cutting and splitting firewood, weeding, and mulching, road maintenance.
- Maintenance and repair of mechanical systems including HVAC units, water and sewer systems, electrical systems, and food and beverage equipment.
- Operate power equipment such as power tools, mowers, tractors, and shop tools.
- Perform snow removal when necessary.
- Complete facility repair and maintenance tasks by completing Work Orders in a timely fashion.
- Participate in new construction projects as outlined by the Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications
Required
- Ability to operate power tools
- Ability to operate mowers and UTV’s
- Ability to work independently and follow direction
- General background in residential building and construction preferred
- Successful completion of a background check
- 2 years of facility maintenance and repair preferred
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to operate power tools and vehicles
- Valid Driver’s License

Horizons at Hemlock Overlook is a partnership between NOVA Parks and Endless Horizons to provide quality outdoor programming at the newly reopened Hemlock Overlook Regional Park. The overarching goal of the partnership is to empower the people of the Washington, DC, region to challenge themselves, grow together, and learn about the wonders of the outdoor world. The 400-acre park offers dense forests, hilly woodlands, and floodplain scenery.
Are you ready for your next challenge? We are hiring a Facilities Maintenance Technician who will be expected to perform a wide range of facility maintenance, repair, landscaping, and construction projects contributing to the successful operation of Horizons at Hemlock Overlook Regional Park. Work schedules will vary depending on weather, time of the year, business volume and unforeseen repair and maintenance issues.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- General Landscaping duties will include but are not limited to:
- Mowing, weed eating, leaf removal, tree removal, cutting and splitting firewood, weeding, and mulching, road maintenance.
- Maintenance and repair of Horizons at Hemlock Overlooks’ mechanical systems to include but are not limited to:
- HVAC units
- Water and sewer systems
- Electrical systems
