  • Maintain prompt hours; notify Early Childhood Classroom Coordinator in event of illness.
  • Ensure compliance with all DCFS policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Follow all policies of the center and of the Glencoe Park District.
  • Attend staff meetings, school functions, and complete any other assigned duties.

Qualifications

Required

  • Must meet all necessary DCFS qualifications including a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and be at least 19 years of age or older.
  • General knowledge of DCFS licensing standards and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.

Preferred

  • Early childhood college credits.
  • Previous experience in a DCFS licensed program.

Summary of Role:


Come join the team at a gold medal award-winning park district! We are looking for passionate, dedicated early childhood professionals to work in our thriving full day preschool program for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old. Under the direction of the Early Childhood Classroom Coordinator, the Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting Lead Teachers in the Children’s Circle Day Care/Pre-school program. This is a part-time position. The position works M-F, 12:30-6PM.

Knowledge and Skills:


Must be able to assist in the planning and supervision of activities which promote healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development in each child. Shall use developmentally appropriate discipline methods. Shall possess good oral and written communication skills. The assistant teacher shall develop and contribute to harmonious work place within the center. Shall display emotional maturity when working with children, parents, and staff. Should show respect and cooperation towards children, co-workers, and parents. The teacher assistant is expected to display a warm, nurturing and cheerful personality. All employees must pass a criminal background check and drug test which is paid for by the Glencoe Park District.
