Responsibilities

• Follow proper procedure in specimen collection, including patient identification, specimen collection, correct labeling, transporting, and ensuring receipt.
• Collect blood specimens by venous and capillary puncture, ensuring proper and adequate specimen is collected.
• Assist with non-technical functions as requested, e.g., Processes specimens in preparation for testing by CLS.
• Complete assigned tasks satisfactory and in a timely manner.
• Perform computer related tests in a correct sequence, timely and runs to completion.
• Perform clerical functions, including preparing and maintaining patient and department records, files and charges.
• Distribute patient lab reports according to laboratory procedures.
• Participate in the orientation of new team members upon request.
• Make supply orders when requested and maintain adequate inventory of all lab material supplies.
• Assist in other areas of the laboratory and or hospital as needed.
• Assume additional or changed shift assignments as requested.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum Experience: One (1) year experience general acute experience preferred.
• Required License/ Certificates: Current California State Phlebotomy Certification (CA CPT) Certification/License required, BLS and MAB certificate required (90 days upon hire).
