The Design Engineer will perform engineering research and development functions related to new products and extensive modifications or design changes in existing product lines to maintain and improve the company's marketing position, growth, and profit goals. Responsibilities

  • Creation of models, blueprints, specifications, and schematics of product designs, components, fixtures, tooling, etc. using computer software and modeling techniques.
  • Work with cross functional teams to discuss, identify, and implement new product concepts.
  • Track and report product development progress and suitability to Engineering Manager and upper management.
  • Evaluate new product costs, feasibility, and return on investment.
  • Assist in the preparation of research and development programs and objectives.
  • Confer with and assist staff personnel on day-to-day problems and procedures.
  • Evaluate designs, specifications, manufacturing feasibility and costs, quality and reliability test data, marketing potential and such other technical facets as may be involved.
  • Prepare recommendations for consideration by management as to suitability of products researched and developed.
  • Coordinate patent and copyright procedures when required.
  • Work directly with customers in the field to resolve product questions and analyze fuel dispensing problems.
  • Through contacts with educational institutions, professional societies, manufacturers and research laboratories, perusal of texts, technical papers and periodicals, keep well informed of new developments germane to the Company's product lines.
  • Complete other related duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work history/training.
  • 2-5 years' experience in the area of development/design or product engineering.
  • Experience with product reliability testing and test laboratory procedures.
  • Working knowledge of 3D scanning/modeling and associated software.
  • Extensive user knowledge of engineering protocols.
  • Demonstrated product development skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) technical details to multiple audiences.
  • Skilled with Pro-E software or similar CAD/modeling software, Microsoft Office Suite, and various other applications involved in development and design.
  • Must possess strong administrative, multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills.
