SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings, including electrical and plumbing; repairing/replacing appliances; and maintaining grounds by performing the following duties.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor for completion
  • Cuts grass and trim weeds on the organization's property.
  • Digs flower beds and plants flowers.
  • Constructs decorative flower garden borders from wood.
  • Cleans internal areas of buildings, including buffing, dusting, sweeping, and mopping.
  • Maintains the grounds by picking up trash.
  • Washes windows.
  • Empties trash cans and consolidates trash for weekly pickup.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of hand tools.
  • Paints interior and exterior walls and trim.
  • Repair parking lot and sidewalks with asphalt, cold patching materials, and concrete.
  • Operates snow removal equipment to maintain parking lots and sidewalks.
  • Maintains and repairs buildings' plumbing and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts such as switches and fuses.
  • Repairs or replaces building brick, stone, and concrete.
  • Maintains and repairs wood parts of buildings.
  • Replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in machines and equipment such as trucks, street sweepers, and riding mowers.
  • Assists other departments with moving furniture, appliances and unloading and storing supplies
  • If part of an on-call rotation, required to respond to all emergency calls onsite within 30 minutes of receiving calls.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence clearly and informatively.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Must have competent skills using a variety of tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize tasks in a self-directed work environment and maintain high levels of productivity without direct supervision.
