The Driver at Phoenix Landing is responsible for providing transportation for participants enrolled at the shelter, including driving them to and from appointments, delivering and picking up supplies and medications, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the vehicles.   • Assist passengers with embarking and disembarking from the vehicle, providing courteous and respectful assistance as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and trip logs.
  • Perform regular inspections of vehicles to ensure they are clean, well-maintained, and in proper working order.
  • Transport participants to all requested appointments that have been arranged by the case managers.
  • Transport support staff along with participants to and from appointments if needed.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all company procedures, results, and information about participants, clients, or families regardless of setting.

Qualifications

Required

  • Valid California Drivers License for a minimum of 5 years
  • Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience in working with individuals who are experiencing homelessness
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact compassionately with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry moderate loads, as well as assist passengers with mobility challenges.

Preferred

  • Previous commercial driving experience

Phoenix Landing is an innovative, low-barrier, service enhanced emergency shelter serving Fresno County. Phoenix Landing provides onsite mental health services, case management, peer support and housing navigation to support individuals who are experiencing homelessness.

Position Summary

The driver provides transportation for the participants currently enrolled at Phoenix Landing to and for appointments during the day. The driver also delivers and picks-up supplies and medications as designated. The incumbent cleans vehicles, performs safety checks, and maintains scheduled maintenance.
