Technician - Lab and Facilities

The Technician - Lab and Facilities is responsible for highly varied laboratory and facility tasks at Kaney. Laboratory activities include the assembly of electrical and mechanical hardware for test equipment and prototypes, disassembly and documentation of legacy hardware for reverse engineering, assigning lab benches for use by Engineers, and maintaining lab equipment. Facilities duties include conducting building maintenance and directing building contractors.

Major Responsibilities:

• Assemble electrical and mechanical hardware
• Assemble cable assemblies
• Advise Engineering on ease of prototype assembly and provide tooling suggestions
• Assist in checkout and delivery of products
• Operate data acquisition equipment and test stands
• Accurately diagnose problems; replace or repair parts, test and make needed adjustments.
• Ensure execution of required building inspections (e.g. elevator, sprinkler, fire).
• Provide scheduled and emergency repairs of facilities equipment as needed.
• Performing lab and office maintenance and upgrade activities
• Source and secure building-related estimates and cost quotes.
• Arrange for and manage third-party contractor support as needed.
• Perform assembly of office equipment as needed such as chairs, desks, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years’ of aerospace lab experience

Minimum Competencies:

• Basic knowledge of MS Office Suite
• Demonstrated ability to read engineering drawings, sketches, schematics and procedures.
• Soldering experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Training in LEAN manufacturing

Preferred Competencies:

• J-STD-001 Soldering Certified
• General knowledge of OSHA as it relates to building and equipment safety standards.
• IPC 610 & 620 certification

Operational Details / Work Environment:

• This position operates in a lab/shop environment. This role routinely uses job instructions, drawings, gages, soldering equipment, and crimping tools.
• Some lifting is required. This would require the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and bend or stand as necessary
• 1st shift
