The Certified Nursing Assistant at A Caring Hand Medical Adult Day Care INC is responsible for conducting activities independently with assigned groups, implementing and evaluating activities as directed by the Activities Coordinator, and providing various types of interaction with clients. This role involves maintaining a professional relationship with clients, assisting with toileting and feeding, interacting with clients to provide a daily activity schedule, and ensuring a safe environment for clients and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct activities with assigned group independently gathering all supplies needed for group.
  • Follow through with Activities Coordinators instructions independently and provide feedback to Coordinator on the effectiveness of the activity.
  • Implement and evaluate activities assigned by the direction of the Activities Coordinator.
  • Work as a team with other staff members assuring that activities are conducted adequately and appropriately.
  • Provide various types of interaction with clients as instructed by the Activities Coordinator including Anger Management, Sensory Stimulation and Validation Therapy.
  • Report any and all behaviors changes to the Activities Coordinator and the Registered Nurse on duty.
  • Provide motivation to clients to attend all activities and programs.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with each client and his/her specific needs.
  • Provides clients with proper equipment needed to conduct activity assigned and prepares area properly to allow activity to be carried out.
  • Assist kitchen staff with the clean up of the dining area to include wiping tables and chairs off after each meal.
  • Assist with the arrival and departure of clients on and off of the vans.
  • Assist in toileting as assigned daily by the Activities Coordinator and reports any skin conditions to the Registered Nurse.
  • Assist in feeding as assigned daily by the Activities Coordinator.
  • Interact with clients and provide a daily activity schedule to clients in groups so they can be aware of daily’s activities.
  • Assist in serving lunch to the clients as directed by kitchen staff and following all regulations required in the kitchen.
  • Assist clients with set up of meals as needed.
  • Provide a safe environment for clients and staff and report any faulty equipment to Activities Coordinator.
  • Obtaining and documenting vital signs and weights as assigned by the Registered Nurse.
  • Utilize Universal Precautions with all patients.
  • Performs nursing assistant duties as assigned by the Registered Nurse.
  • Provide active and Passive ROM to clients to prevent contractions.
  • Documents on fluid restriction forms, hydration forms and toileting schedule appropriately and accurately.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current Maryland Nursing Assistant License.
  • Be physically able to lift persons on and off van as needed and provide assistance to those who are in need.
  • Must be able to read, write and follow written directions.
  • Clean criminal background check or approved by Program Director.
