- Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child
- Cultivates positive relationships, conducts parent conferences, and maintains effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA
- Maintains required program records, including child files and child portfolios
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Minimum eighteen (18) years old
- 2500 or more documentable hours of experience working with children
- Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Clearance, FBI Clearance, NSOR (National Sex Offender Registry Clearance) (paid for by the YMCA)
- Health Assessment and TB Test
- Two written references documenting experience with children
Preferred
- Previous experience with diverse populations
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish

Assistant Teacher Salary: $14.75 - $17.00/hour
Assistant Teacher Hours: Monday - Friday up to 29 hours per week (part time, year round position)
Assistant Teacher Responsibilities:
- Assists with implementing curriculum within the established guidelines through lesson planning and a developmentally appropriate classroom environment
- Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families
- Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards

Assistant Teacher Qualifications:
- Have 2+ years of experience working with children
- Are a high school graduate
- Are at least 21 years of age
- College credits in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
- Can be trained in First Aid/CPR/AED/Emergency Oxygen (training provided)
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) helpful
