The Certified Phlebotomist, under general supervision, performs various patient care duties and laboratory procedures.   • Completes blood draws as efficiently as possible. Collects specimens in the proper container based on test that was ordered and follow the proper order of draw.
  • Educate patient and family regarding the procedure.
  • Label all samples with at least two unique identifiers and processes the sample according to lab procedures.
  • Follows universal precautions to protect self and patients.
  • Stocks procedure rooms with supplies.
  • Manages CLIA Waived Point of Care Testing, including QC, proper specimen handling and processing according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • Takes responsibility for lab equipment cleaning, quality contract, and sterilization in accordance with OSHA and CLIA guidelines.
  • Promotes and believes in providing quality healthcare services and education to the community in a convenient and compassionate manner.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Phlebotomy certification required
  • Laboratory specimen, handling, and processing experience required

Preferred

  • Knowledge of CLIA Waiver requirements
  • CPR certification
  • 1+ years' experience in a healthcare environment
  • Medical Assistant Certification

JOB SUMMARY

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Follows organization and OSHA safety rules and procedures
  • Upholds HIPAA/PHI regulations
  • Punctual and dependent for assigned shifts
  • Sitting, standing, walking and/or moving up to 8 hours per day
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Highly organized, proactive, attention to details
  • Phlebotomy certification required
  • Laboratory specimen, handling, and processing experience required
  • Knowledge of CLIA Waiver requirements preferred
  • CPR certification preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 1+ years' experience in a healthcare environment preferred
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred
