The Guild For Exceptional Children is seeking a self-motivated maintenance staff to assist with the maintenance and repair of all GEC physical premises, equipment, and systems. The role involves a variety of tasks including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general upkeep of the facility. The maintenance staff will also be responsible for ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the premises, as well as practicing preventative maintenance and notifying management of any issues.

Responsibilities

  • Replacing faucets, sinks, piping.
  • Repairing and replacing drain lines.
  • Clearing out internal drain lines (sinks and toilets).
  • Removing and re-seating toilet bowls when necessary.
  • Replacing toilet bowl components, valves, floats, flushometers etc.
  • Repairing water damage to areas under sink, around sink etc.
  • Drain and keep track of boiler maintenance.
  • Replacing outlets and switches.
  • Re-setting circuit breakers/ replacing fuses.
  • Replacing facility lighting fixtures and bulbs etc.
  • Repair/replace door bells.
  • Replace/install light fixture ballast’s.
  • Repairs banisters.
  • Maintaining, repairing and replacing door, frames, hardware including hinges, locks, doorstops, strike plates etc.
  • Repairing/installing shelves.
  • Maintaining windows ensuring that they open and close properly, are properly caulked and that any cracked or damaged panes are appropriately replaced.
  • Painting, taping, sheetrock work.
  • Re-finishing cabinets and doors.
  • Pressure washing and water proofing/refinishing decks and patios.
  • Thoro-sealing exterior surfaces of buildings.
  • Sweeping off roofs and cleaning out gutters, clearing roof drains.
  • Emergency patch work for roof until roofing contractor can respond.
  • Repairing leaders and gutters, cleaning out and repairing downspouts.
  • Small scale concrete patch work.
  • Maintaining exterior doors ensuring that they operate properly and that they are appropriately sealed and caulked.
  • Installing and removing air conditioners, ensuring that they are working properly upon installation and properly stored upon removal.
  • Snow removal and salting.
  • Sweeping leaves.
  • Assemble sheds, barbecue grills, furniture, tents, and office furniture.
  • Moves furniture, equipment, and boxes, etc. (up to 50 lbs.) as needed.
  • Replacing ceiling tiles.
  • Replacing vinyl floor tiles.
  • Ensuring that bathroom stalls and fixtures are kept in good repair and are clean and graffiti free.
  • Remove graffiti, debris from exterior walls and buildings.
  • Provides general security when needed as requested.
  • Practices preventative maintenance and notifies management of any issues.
  • Assisting with monthly fire alarms.
  • Assisting with all building inspections. (fire, sprinkler, elevator)
  • Keeping basements in proper order and up to code for fire department regulations/inspections.
  • Ensuring all buildings are safe for service recipients in our care.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2-3 years maintenance experience
  • Valid Drivers License
