Hillsborough YMCA is seeking a Sports Instructor. The role of Sport Instructor h is to be responsible for skill development, character development, and providing direction to athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork in basketball, soccer, or T-Ball. Other responsibilities of the head basketball coach are:

• Coaches in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans and practices accordingly.
• Builds effective, authentic relationships with participants and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Responsible for all team communication, conveys information on practice and game schedules, as well as refers students and parents to other programs as appropriate.
• Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.) and handles all registrations and schedules for all team games/tournaments and practices.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
• Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
• Organizes and puts away needed equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
• Trains and supervises team aides/volunteers as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QualificationsThe Coach must have knowledge of the game of basketball, and soccer, and be able to teach the fundamentals to youth participants, build a strong foundation for the sport, and build confidence and self-esteem for participants. S/he ensures a positive member experience by interacting with players in a fair and professional manner.
