The Maintenance Mechanic at The Agnes Irwin School is responsible for providing preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance services, as well as performing campus renovation projects as directed.   • Plumbing and drain cleaning
  • Electrical installation and maintenance, including upgrading to LED
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies
  • Submit requests for material orders to Supervisor of Facilities and Campus Operations
  • Provide transportation for students and staff
  • Grounds work and athletic setups and maintenance
  • Assist in event set up and break down
  • Assist in snow removal and campus safety
  • Provide project assistance and emergency support services to the maintenance and grounds staff
  • Provide facilities maintenance and special event support as directed
  • Maintain clean safe work environment
  • Research products and parts for procurement and installation of replacement parts or new equipment

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • College or trade school degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of four years of experience in institutional facilities management and/or construction project management
  • Hands-on knowledge and experience in the safe operation of a variety of tools, machinery, power equipment, and transportation vehicles
  • Commitment to the institution’s needs and readiness to respond 24/7/365 as reasonable and necessary
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; current clean three year MVR with no restrictions and traffic citations or violations

Salary:

Position Purpose: To provide preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance services and perform campus renovation projects as directed


Essential Functions:

  • Respond in a timely manner to work orders as assigned through the School’s work order system, Brightly. Work orders will include, but are not limited to:
    • Event set up and breakdown
    • Carpentry
    • HVAC experience
    • Plumbing
    • Drain cleaning
    • Electrical-installation and maintenance including upgrading to LED

  • Submit request for material orders (light bulbs, maintenance equipment etc.) to Supervisor of Facilities and Campus Operations
  • Provide transportation for students and staff
  • Grounds work and athletic setups and maintenance
  • Assist in event set up and break down
  • Assist in snow removal and campus safety
  • Provide project assistance and emergency support services to the maintenance and grounds staff as directed

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift 75 lbs. and carry this weight for a short distance
  • Ability to perform routine tasks in a repetitive manner from a standing, kneeling, or seated position
  • Ability to climb and work from all sizes of ladders or scaffolding
  • Ability to see and judge depth, height, and distance of objects
  • Ability to detect smell of hazardous odors
  • Ability to withstand indoor and outdoor environmental conditions including dirt, dust, pollen odors, sun, wetness, rain, fumes, temperatures, noise, or machinery vibrations
  • Availability for weekend and night events
