Job Title: Pharmacy Assistant (Per Diem)

Employment Type: Per Diem | Direct Hire
Shift & Schedule: Night Shift
Varied overnights: 11:00 PM β 7:00 AM Includes weekends and holidays
Compensation: $26.00 β $40.00 per hour (Commensurate with experience)
Position Summary
The Pharmacy Assistant performs pharmacy-related functions under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. This role supports daily pharmacy operations, medication preparation, inventory management, and regulatory compliance while delivering high-quality customer service in a hospital setting.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Perform all tasks in accordance with departmental policies and procedures
- Comply with all elements of the Pharmacy Assistant training program
- Support pharmacists by answering phones and processing medication requests
- Accurately fill patient-specific medications
- Assist with Cleanroom and IV operations in compliance with USP Chapter 797 and 800
- Fill and maintain Pyxis MedStations
- Prepare and manage floor stock orders
- Fill, replace, and maintain emergency medication kits
- Perform medication packaging and labeling
- Assist with inventory management and stock control
- Utilize pharmacy computer systems for billing, label printing, reporting, and documentation
- Maintain regulatory, safety, and quality standards
- Follow infection control protocols
- Integrate customer service into daily workflow
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with the healthcare team
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives
- Complete competency requirements and mandatory in-services
- Attend staff meetings as required
- Utilize cost-containment practices
- Adhere to all policies including dress code, code of conduct, attendance, and annual health requirements
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Education & Certification Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required
- Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
- Maintain continuing education requirements as established by the certifying board
