Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our clients finance team at a leading food manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial reporting, and cost accounting within a manufacturing environment. This role will play a critical part in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting operational decision-making, and driving continuous process improvements.
Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Controller:
- Support the Controller in managing the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Oversee and analyze cost accounting, including standard costs, variances, and inventory valuation.
- Collaborate with operations to understand cost drivers and enhance profitability analysis.
- Assist with the preparation of internal financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and external regulatory requirements.
- Participate in audits (internal and external) by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and performance feedback.
- Lead or support projects related to ERP upgrades, process automation, and systems implementation.
- Assist in cash flow management, capital expenditure tracking, and ad hoc financial analysis.
- Maintain accurate records and support tax filings and compliance activities.
Qualifications of the Assistant Controller:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory accounting.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
