Maintenance Supervisor
The Maintenance Supervisor oversees maintenance personnel during assigned shifts to ensure efficient delivery of maintenance services and support for continuous production in a 24/7 operation. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing product and personnel concerns, and resolving issues. This role adheres to company policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with plant engineering, maintenance management, and facility leadership to enhance employee safety, product quality, equipment reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Supervise maintenance activities and capital projects at the site.
- Apply mechanical and electrical expertise to maintain production systems, utilities, buildings, and grounds.
- Use a computerized maintenance management system to schedule preventive maintenance and optimize asset utilization.
- Ensure all utilities (e.g., refrigeration, electrical, steam, compressed air) are functioning properly to support production.
- Implement corrective actions based on key maintenance performance indicators to improve equipment effectiveness.
- Stay current with industry regulations and codes related to mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and standards in both daily maintenance and capital project execution.
- Complete required documentation including maintenance records, incident reports, investigations, and technical documentation (e.g., PLC logic, blueprints, manuals, SOPs, PMs, inventory).
- Share best practices within the maintenance team.
- Enforce safety, food safety, and regulatory policies with employees, contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Perform managerial duties including planning, evaluating, organizing, and delegating.
- Manage employee performance including selection, retention, development, discipline, and performance reviews. May participate in labor negotiations and contract-related activities if applicable.
- Assess maintenance staff skills and assist in developing training programs for professional growth.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in the dairy, food, or beverage industry, or equivalent education and experience.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Proficient in mechanical systems including boilers, refrigeration, PLCs, electrical systems, cooling towers, ammonia compressors, and packaging equipment.
- Skilled in electronics, instrumentation, troubleshooting, reading schematics, and ladder logic.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Experience with safety and security protocols.
- Ability to follow sanitation and quality procedures and report deficiencies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications.
