POSITION SUMMARY
The Physician Practice Controller will oversee the financial operations of our physician practices located in Louisiana and Texas. This key role involves managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with regulations, and optimizing revenue cycle management. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving the financial health and operational efficiency of our physician practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Management:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Develop and maintain effective internal financial controls and procedures.
- Manage the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and perform bank reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Monitor financial performance and trends, providing recommendations to enhance profitability.
Revenue Cycle Management:
- Ensure timely and accurate billing for services rendered.
- Oversee the collection of patient payments and insurance reimbursements.
- Continuously review and improve revenue cycle processes to optimize cash flow.
Compliance and Auditing:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and industry guidelines.
- Prepare documentation and assist with financial and administrative audits.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
Staff Supervision (if applicable):
- Supervise and mentor staff accountants, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations and professional development.
Other Responsibilities:
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, applying insights to improve financial processes.
- Develop and implement innovative financial systems to enhance operational efficiency.
- Contribute to the overall financial health and success of the practice.
EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in financial management, accounting, and revenue cycle management, ideally within a healthcare or physician practice settings.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, healthcare industry practices, and financial regulations.
- CPA or other relevant certifications preferred or required based on organizational needs.
