As a Utility Technician in Rio Rancho, NM, you will perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater collections system on an assigned shift. Responsibilities
- Performs routine serving and corrective maintenance of wastewater collection systems
- Cleans vehicles, heavy equipment, pumps, tools, and other stationary and portable equipment
- Preforms routine inspections of vehicles and equipment; performs minor maintenance and lubrication of machinery such as changing oil and greasing equipment
- Operates and maintains vehicles, equipment, and tools that are required to load, unload, haul and spread sand, gravel, dirt and/or waste products; digs and refills ditches and trenches
- Carries or holds materials, supplies, and tools to assist collections personnel
- Maintains grounds, buildings, and lift stations; cuts grass, weeds and brush; trims trees and bushes; rakes grass, leaves and trash
- Completion of work orders using technology software programs daily
- Operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control
- Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels
- Able to obtain a Level 1 Wastewater or Collections Certification within a year of hire date
- Works safely and adheres to established safety procedures
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the workday
- Ability to carry and respond to work orders as requested by management
- Ability and willingness to work on-call shifts, as requested, including being fit and able to respond to call-ins, in a timely manner
- Understand and carries out oral and written directions
- Performs other duties, as required
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Holds a valid driver's license

- Must be able to operate a combination cleaning truck
- Familiar with IT devices, such as Smartphones, tablets, and accessing emails
Preferred
- Must obtain a Level 1 Wastewater or Collections Certification within a year of hire date
- Basic knowledge in the operation and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, farm machinery, pumps, and equipment used in and around water and wastewater systems
- Familiarity with hand and power tools and equipment commonly used in the maintenance of vehicles, structures, and buildings
- Tech savvy in filling out work orders using Maintenance Connection

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preforms routine serving and corrective maintenance of wastewater collection systems
- Cleans vehicles, heavy equipment, pumps, tools, and other stationary and portable equipment
- Preforms routine inspections of vehicles and equipment; performs minor maintenance and lubrication of machinery such as changing oil and greasing equipment
