**Job Title:** **2** **nd** **Class Fireman**
**Shift - Saturday-Sunday 6:00pm-6:00am**
**Job Summary:** Operate, monitor and repair boiler plant under the direction of Massachusetts 3 rd Class Stationary Engineer. Performs heavy repair work and carries out preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled or requested. Communicates with clients and tenants on a regular basis generates logs and/or reports as required.
**Organizational Relationship:**
+ Reports to BTE Account Manager or Stationary 3 rd Class Engineer (MA).
+ Cooperates with and assists others in a common effort to promote goodwill and Company growth.
+ Perform additional duties as requested by the Stationary 3 rd Class Engineer or Client representative
**Specific Responsibilities:**
+ Holds a current license as a 2 nd Class Fireman (MA).
+ Ability to operate valves and associated HVAC components.
+ Ability to climb 20 feet on a ladder maintaining balance to perform work/repairs.
+ Knowledge of HVAC equipment to enable proper servicing and repairs.
+ Ability to effectively communicate with customers/tenants orally or in print.
+ Operate boiler plant
+ Perform calculations for utility use, watch steam etc.
+ Assist any licensed tradesperson as required.
+ Make recommendations to supervisor on any defective equipment in his/her area of responsibility.
+ Keep accurate time sheets.
+ Submit as required all logs and report for all work done.
+ Repair and troubleshoot gas and oil-fired burners, HVAC equipment and related controls as applies.
+ Make periodic building rounds to check all boiler plant equipment and keep accurate log sheets as required.
+ Ensure safe working conditions are being maintained in areas under his/her care, reporting any safety violations to supervisor **.**
**Qualifications:**
+ Minimum 3 to 5 years direct experience in boiler operations and maintenance.
+ State issued 2 nd Class Fireman License
+ Strong communication skills both written and verbal along with good customer service skills.
