Job Description:
The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in supporting our healthcare team and ensuring smooth, efficient operation of the clinic. The ideal candidate will have experience in both clinical and administrative duties, including taking vitals, assisting with charting, and preparing sterile environments for procedures such as hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and liposuction. We’re looking for someone who is highly organized, patient-centered, and a team player who thrives in a fast-paced, wellness-oriented setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Greet patients and prepare them for consultations and procedures.
- Measure and record vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate, temperature) accurately.
- Assist patients in understanding procedures and answering any basic questions they may have.
Phlebotomy:
- Proficiency in Venipuncture with the ability to safely and efficiently collect blood samples from patients using appropriate techniques.
- Properly label, store, and prepare blood samples for laboratory analysis while following safety and compliance protocols.
Clinical Assistance:
- Assist healthcare providers during medical procedures, including HRT, liposuction, and aesthetic treatments.
- Prepare exam and procedure rooms by ensuring they are clean, well-stocked, and set up in a sterile manner.
- Maintain sterility during procedures and manage any breaches of sterile fields promptly and appropriately.
Charting & Documentation:
- Accurately document patient data into electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Assist in maintaining up-to-date patient records, ensuring they meet compliance standards.
Inventory Management
- Monitor, maintain, and organize medical inventory on a daily basis
Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with medical and administrative teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Support the team in daily clinic operations and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Support the front desk with check-ins and check-outs as needed
Job Expectations:
Technical Proficiency:
- Proven experience in taking vital signs and assisting with medical charting.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Experience in sterile technique and setting up for medical procedures.
Patient Communication:
- Ability to explain procedures and treatments in a clear and empathetic manner to patients.
- Ensure a welcoming, calming environment for all patients, especially those who may be nervous or anxious.
Professionalism:
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while maintaining high standards of care.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work well with both medical and administrative staff.
Problem-Solving:
- Ability to remain calm and think quickly in high-pressure situations, particularly during medical procedures.
- Willingness to address challenges and offer solutions collaboratively.
Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant certification (preferred).
- Venipuncture experience (required)
- Previous experience in a medical spa, dermatology, or similar setting is a plus.
- CPR certification (preferred).
- Excellent communication skills and patient care ethics.
- Knowledge of skincare and aesthetic procedures (preferred but not required).
Physical Requirements:
- Standing & Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (often several hours at a time).
- Bending & Stooping: Required for setting up treatment rooms, assisting with procedures, and handling supplies.
- Lifting & Carrying: May need to lift and carry equipment, supplies, or patients’ personal belongings (sometimes up to 25-50 lbs).
- Fine Motor Skills: Must have good hand-eye coordination for assisting with injections, handling small instruments, and preparing medical supplies.
