We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomy Technician to join our healthcare team in Columbia, SC. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing venipuncture and blood sampling, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. This role is crucial in supporting our clinical laboratory operations and providing exceptional patient service.
Duties:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures to collect blood samples from patients.
- Ensure proper identification of patients prior to specimen collection.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during procedures.
- Process specimens for laboratory testing, adhering to established protocols.
- Monitor and record vital signs as needed before and after blood collection.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all procedures performed and patient interactions.
- Provide excellent patient service by addressing concerns and ensuring comfort during the procedure.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure efficient workflow in the clinical laboratory setting.
- Stay updated on medical terminology relevant to phlebotomy practices.
Experience:
- Candidates should possess a strong background in phlebotomy, with experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory environment preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, aseptic techniques, and specimen collection processing is essential.
- Previous experience in patient service roles will be beneficial in delivering compassionate care during blood sampling procedures.
