**This position is currently located at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital but will be moving in late June to Sentara Independence.
Our Electronic Intensive Care Unit(eICU) is a form of telemedicine that uses state of the art technology to provide an additional layer of critical care service.The goal of the E-ICU (tele-ICU) is to reduce mortality, length of stay and prevent complications by providing an additional layer of monitoring for the patients. This is accomplished by utilizing advanced telecommunications technology.The Sentara eICU staff collaborates with the bedside ICU team to proactively intervene to carry out the Sentara Commitments toAlways Work Together as a Team to Provide Our Patients Quality HealthcareandAlways Keep You Safe.
If you enjoy ICU level of care, have excellent critical thinking skills, want to be a part of a collaborative team, understands technology & navigating through systems, and have 3+ years of critical care nursing experience then this may be an opportunity to join the e-ICU team.
e-ICU RN provides remote nursing care acting as an advocate, guide, and resource for the bedside ICU RN.
Collaborates with the eMD to provide telemedicine care to a diverse population of critically ill adults across multiple ICUs at various Sentara hospitals.
TheeMDsandeRNsfollow patients in theMonitoredCensusutilizing Epic Patient Monitoring (EPM).Video conferencing via theeICU camerasallows direct communication with the patients, bedside team, other members of the healthcare team and patients' families at the patient's bedside.
The eRNs maintain daily logs with their monitoring assignments and APACHE assignments.
TheRegistered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
