**Job Description**
This 2nd shift Process Technician role focuses on setting up, operating, and optimizing plastic injection molding presses in a clean, climate-controlled environment. The position runs Monday through Friday from 2:45 p.m. to 11:15 p.m., with technicians rotating weekend coverage. You will support production by starting up machinery, performing mold changes, making minor program edits, and troubleshooting issues on high-precision molding equipment that produces small, intricate parts for the medical industry.
**Responsibilities**
+ Start up plastic injection molding presses before production shifts, including coming in early on Sunday nights to ensure machinery is running and ready.
+ Set up and configure plastic injection molding machines, including mold installation and removal, to meet production requirements.
+ Perform 3-4 mold changes per shift on presses up to 220 tons, ensuring accuracy, safety, and minimal downtime.
+ Edit and adjust programs on plastic injection molding machines to maintain proper processing parameters within tight tolerances.
+ Troubleshoot issues on plastic molding presses (Arburg) and related equipment to quickly identify root causes and restore stable production.
+ Monitor machine performance and product quality, making minor process edits as needed while adhering to customer-approved process specifications.
+ Inspect molded parts to verify quality, dimensions, and consistency, especially for small and intricate components used in the medical industry.
+ Work within a team-based structure (e.g., assigned to a specific team such as Team 1 or Team 5) and coordinate with other technicians to support overall production goals.
+ Follow established procedures and documentation for processing, mold setting, and program changes, ensuring compliance with customer and internal standards.
+ Use RJG systems and tools as part of process monitoring and optimization for plastic injection molding.
+ Maintain a clean and organized work area in the clean room environment, following gowning procedures and contamination control requirements.
+ Collaborate with supervisors and colleagues to communicate equipment status, production issues, and improvement opportunities.
+ Participate in training, which may occur on 1st shift as needed, to learn specific machines, processes, and quality standards.
+ Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance processing efficiency, reduce defects, and improve cycle times.
**Essential Skills**
+ At least 5 years of experience setting plastic injection molds, including installation, removal, and setup for production.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a process technician in a plastic injection molding environment.
+ At least 3 years of experience editing programs on plastic injection molding machines, including adjusting processing parameters.
+ Minimum of 1 year of experience working with RJG technology in injection molding applications.
+ Hands-on experience with plastic injection molding processing, including startup, shutdown, and optimization of presses.
+ Proficiency in mold setting and changeover on presses up to 220 tons.
+ Strong troubleshooting skills for plastic molding presses, including Arburg machines, to resolve mechanical, process, and quality issues.
+ Ability to perform inspections of molded parts and recognize defects, dimensional issues, and quality concerns.
+ Experience working in a production environment with tight tolerances and strict customer-approved process controls.
+ Willingness and ability to work 2nd shift (2:45 p.m. - 11:15 p.m.) Monday through Friday, with rotating weekend shifts.
+ Openness to train on 1st shift if required before transitioning to regular shift assignment.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience programming plastic injection molding machines beyond minor program edits is a plus.
+ Familiarity with medical device or medical industry manufacturing environments is beneficial.
+ Comfort working with small, intricate molded parts that require high attention to detail.
+ Ability to work effectively as part of a team-based structure, supporting multiple machines and collaborating with other technicians.
+ Strong communication skills to report equipment status, quality issues, and process changes clearly and accurately.

The standard schedule is 2nd shift from 2:45 p.m. to 11:15 p.m., Monday through Friday, with technicians rotating weekend shifts and occasionally starting early on Sunday nights to bring machines online. Team-based assignments (such as Team 1 and Team 5) structure the work across multiple machines, with each technician responsible for approximately 10 machines during 3rd shift operations. All technicians must follow clean room dress requirements, including wearing gowns and hair nets or beard nets, and adhere to contamination control procedures to maintain a high level of cleanliness and product quality.
