Primary Purpose of Position

• Responsible for the overall good housekeeping of the yard.
• Stuffing of flaptracks/container to within safe weight limits for shipping.
• Maintenance and replacement of all emergency gear to include but not limited to slings, hasp, shackles, gear stowage, lashing straps, chains, and supports tools.
• Lashing and unlashing cargo for shipment including autos.
• General support mechanism for FCT and its client base.
• Stuff/strip flaptracks/containers, and auto frames as required.
• Load/offload flat racks.
• Ensure that all loose cargo received is made ready for sea prior to loading on the ship.
• Inventory control of all lifting gear used for LO-LO operation.

Knowledge and Skill

• Must have a valid state driver’s license
• Must be certified and be proficient on the following ground support equipment: Forklift up to 45,000 lbs.
• Must pass annual DOT physical requirements.

Problem Solving/Decision Making

• Complex problem solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, move oversized or awkward loads safely and efficiently.
• Able to work with complex alpha numeric codes.
• Must be able and willing to issue orders and follow up on orders.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be in excellent physical condition.
• This position is outdoors and exposed to the environmental conditions.
• Requires climbing, lifting, pulling, and prolonged standing.

This is a union job position. Newly hired employees should be considered on a trial basis for a period of ninety (90) calendar days from the date of hiring. After the completion of the ninety-calendar day trial period, seniority shall be effective as of the original date of employment. All employees who average a minimum of 15 hours per week or more for sixteen consecutive weeks will become members of the bargaining unit.
