What you will do:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Manager to help maintain a safe and healthy environment for our employees and customers. The Safety Manager will work closely with the Director of Safety to implement, monitor and enforce safety policies and procedures across our retail locations, distribution/outlet centers, and administrative offices. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations while promoting a culture of safety within the organization. The position will use independent judgement and will be responding to questions of safety in the workplace and is responsible for managing confidential and sensitive information related to workplace injuries.

Must Haves:

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and five years of work experience in safety industry.
2. 30-hour General industry OSHA card or ability to obtain one in 90 days.
3. Proficiency in business related software such as MS word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook.
4. Ability to travel throughout the company territory in personal vehicle. This includes areas outside of Tucson such as Casa Grande, Sierra Vista, and Nogales.
5. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
6. Must have a valid current Arizona Driver's license, current auto insurance and an acceptable driving record as defined by company's auto insurance carrier.
7. Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with all individuals of different levels in the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. *Lead the Safety programs as prescribed by GISA’s strategic plan to ensure employees, consumers, clients, donors, customers and staff have a safe and healthy environment at Goodwill.
2. *Investigate safety-related accidents, looking for root causes and solutions to avoid repeat accidents.
3. *Maintain workman’s compensation costs at less than 2% of payroll.
4. *Review and update company safety policies and procedures ensuring compliance with City, State and Federal health and safety laws and practices.
5. *Create strong and positive partnership with broker and agent, ensuring the best needs of GISA and its employees are met.
6. Create/update, publish, disseminate, and enforce all applicable health and safety policies, procedures and plans.
7. *Implement and satisfactorily maintain CARF compliance health and safety standards. Act as the Health and Safety CARF surveyor point person for GISA.
8. * Input, extract and compile data for reporting purposes as required, to include, but not limited to OSHA, CARF, etc.
9. *Responsible for GISA Safety Committee activities and documentation.
10. Seek out and implement Safety and Loss Prevention best practice from other agencies and apply those that are a good fit for GISA.
